Gymnast Pre-Season Challenge

If you’re the parent of a competitive gymnast (who has big goals and dreams), you’ll want to read this page carefully

Here’s why:

This is the breakdown of exactly what’s missing from her current nutrition approach.  And that missing information is likely why she is tired, sore, or unknowingly struggling.

What gymnasts and parents are told:

“Gymnasts just need to eat healthy”

How’s that really working (especially as your gymnast gets older and is considerably more in charge of what she eats)?

Instead of depending on “healthy eating” trends and then feeling totally lost when your gymnast may start to struggle with injuries, food, or her body…

What if you and your gymnast were confident with fueling in a way that feels good and levels up her performance and recovery?

LEARNING TO FUEL FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE IS A GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING

And yet…

You’re likely facing one of these challenges when helping your gymnast with their nutrition

s
You know your gymnast isn’t eating enough…she skips meals, refuses breakfast, doesn’t eat before/during gymnastics (or isn’t allowed to), and you’re worried. She then may also go to the other end and seems to overeat or even “binge” on foods, especially the carbs, sweet treats, etc and you aren’t sure how to help her find “balance”.
s
You feel like your gymnast is a picky eater and it’s getting in the way of her performance.

You make super nutritious meals, feel like there is a good balance of all foods, and yet she often refuses what you make and just wants “junk”.

s
Your gymnast is TIRED and SORE all the time, and it breaks your heart.

You’ve tried therapists, chiropractors, supplements, etc and nothing seems to be helping. You wonder if her nutrition is at play, but you’re not sure.

s
Things are going well, but you are all too familiar with how things with food and body can go down a bad path as gymnasts get older, more advanced, etc. You want to help your gymnast feel confident in fueling her body and not struggle. You want to know how to make better meal options, fuel your gymnast for her best performance, and make sure she’s getting enough!

The common theme: Most parents are never really taught how to best help their competitive gymnasts with nutrition.

Not only do gymnasts face some huge logistical and cultural challenges with fueling, but they also struggle with much of the same food/body issues that non-gymnasts face.

The reality is….we live in #dietculture which makes is SO difficult to *really* know how to fuel your gymnast (and yourself + the rest of the fam).

This is where the Pre-Season Gymnast Nutrition Challenge comes in to help you sort through the “nutrition noise”.

How the Live Challenge Works

In less than 30 minutes a day for 4 days, you can finally:

Learn to sort through the nutrition noise of #dietculture and feel confident with fueling your gymnast (and entire family)

Check-in on your gymnast’s current nutrition habits and figure out what’s working and what’s not

Understand what really matters for gymnast nutrition and what you can start working on immediately to help

What you’ll learn…

Day 1: Pre-Season Fueling Audit

How’s your gymnast doing with nutrition right now? Is it going to help her this season when it really matters, or are there some warning signs right now we can address before it’s too late? We’ll go through our Gymnast Fueling Audit to help you uncover what’s working, what’s not, and start to make a plan for the season.

Day 2: Why is my gymnast so tired/sore/injured?

How do you know if your gymnast is getting what she needs in terms of nutrition for optimal repair/recovery? The body gives us many signs when it’s not getting the proper nutrition. It’s at this point in the season that little injuries, ongoing soreness, etc will turn into sidelining issues during season if not addressed.

Day 3: Unintentional Underfueling, Growth Spurts, and RED-S

Is your gymnast struggling right now with a big growth spurt over the summer (or knows it’s coming and is worried that her gymnastics won’t be the same)? Do you wonder if your gymnast is getting what she needs for optimal performance and longevity in the sport? We’re going to take a deep dive into fueling, underfueling, RED-S, and what’s normal/what’s not in terms of growth for the gymnast.

Day 4: Checking In, Troubleshooting, Optimizing and What’s Next

Helping your gymnast is more than just having “the right plan”. Bring your questions, concerns, and challenges with fueling your gymnast and we’ll troubleshoot them on our live call. More than likely you’ve received bits of information from all over, but there are things keeping your gymnast from doing what you want or you’re not sure if you’re doing the right things. We’ll help you know what next steps to take for your gymnast to have her best season YET.

gymnast nutrition coaching

By the end of the challenge, you’ll have:

-Learned what’s working and what’s not with your gymnast’s nutrition

-Gained a deep understanding of why most gymnasts are tired, sore, or constantly injured (and how to prevent this)

-Learned what’s normal and what’s not for gymnast growth and development

-A new-found confidence in how to approach nutrition with your gymnast

Hear what parents say about our approach to fueling the high level gymnast…

As a parent, I wanted my children to understand fueling their bodies correctly isn’t a bad thing, even though some of their teammates make fun of them for the pre, during and post workout meals and snacks they eat. This has helped me learn to communicate about food in a healthy way and they are loving all the new meal/snack recipes!

Mom, Level 8 and 10 Gymnasts

I was able to implement the tools and use the resources [in the course] to live a balanced eating lifestyle and help my daughter not have to struggle with larger hurdles of misunderstanding with food and her body as she gets older.

Parents, Level 9/HOPES Gymnast

You have changed my opinion on fruit snacks/Gatorade for fueling! I now don’t feel guilty allowing her to have sugar.
Mom, Level 10 gymnast

As a parent, the course helped me understand proper fueling so I can provide what my gymnanst needs.
Mom, Jr Elite Gymnast

I have realized that even though my body may look like I want it to, what I am putting into my body is not sustainable for the gymnastics career I want to achieve. I have come to accept that my body might change, but that those changes will help me accomplish my goals.

About Christina Anderson RDN

Hi! I’m Christina Anderson MS, RDN, CSSD, CSP, LD, a board certified pediatric/adolescent registered dietitian sports nutritionist.

Like your gymnast and many of you, I was a competitive gymnast for 9+ years and founded a 100% virtual sports nutrition practice exclusively for gymnasts.

It wasn’t until I become a dietitian nutritionist that I realized that what I had been doing with my nutrition as a gymnast was the complete opposite of what I needed, yet how should I have known? (Especially when that’s what everyone else was doing).

Now I have a healthy relationship with food and my body, and help compulsory through international elite gymnasts (and their parents/coaches!) achieve the things I wasn’t able to in my career.

Since 2017, I’ve had a private practice and worked with 100s of competitive gymnasts (compulsory through Sr Elite/National Team) and their parents —teaching them to fuel for optimal performance without the stress or overwhelm.

We attract gymnasts and parents who are ready to put in the time and effort to optimize nutrition and performance. They are not afraid to challenge beliefs they have about food and nutrition, and challenge cultural norms in the sport. Just because “this is how we’ve always done it” doesn’t make it right.

I’m SO excited you’re here and will see you inside the Challenge!

By the end of the challenge, you will know how your gymnast is doing with nutrition and have started implementing some small changes to their training and nutrition.

So the big question is….how much does it cost?

Just $20 bucks!

Why are we charging?

Three simple reasons…

PEOPLE THAT PAY…

…for our challenge engage at a higher rate and we want you to take action!

WE SHARE THIS INFO…

…in our course and with 1:1 clients so we want to stay in alignment.

WE’RE TRYING REALLY HARD…

…reach more gymnasts, parents, and coaches and this helps offset the costs.

And, to sweeten the deal you’ll get some awesome additional bonuses if you sign up for the challenge!

You’ll have access to all of the replays from the challenge by Thursday Sept 15th, but we’re giving you another week to watch them if you get behind!

Got burning questions? Here’s what others have asked!

Who is this challenge for?
This challenge is geared towards parents and coaches of competitive gymnasts (Compulsory/Optionals/Elite). You are more than welcome to do the challenge with your gymnast, we recommend at least 12 and older.
Is this only for female gymnasts?
No! Even though we LOVE pink, this challenge is also appropriate for parents of male gymnasts.
We live in Australia/UK/Europe, etc? Can we still do the challenge?
YES! There will be replays for the live sessions each day if they are not at a convenient time for you.
Is this only for gymnasts and parents, or for coaches too?
This challenge is also a great way for coaches to get valuable nutrition education.
What if I can't make it live everyday?
No worries! We will have the replay posted as quickly as possible to the Challenge Facebook Group and will email you the replay link the next morning bright and early!
What if my gymnast refuses to talk with me about nutrition, will this help?
YES! Often gymnasts (especially teens) may not want to talk about nutrition because it’s deeply personal and they don’t want to feel judged. Often comments about food/bodies have already been made and the course is a safe way to introduce new, healthy nutrition concepts without pressure. This challenge is a great way for you to get some insight into why they struggle and how to help.
