VIP Nutrition Program

(For Levels 5/6-10)

How amazing would it be if you knew how to help your gymnast eat the right foods to nourish her body for peak performance?

You can!

Hi, I’m Christina a Registered Dietitian Sports Nutritionist and former gymnast.

In the 3-month Balanced Gymnast® VIP Nutrition Coaching Program, I’ll share what your gymnast should be eating to increase her energy and endurance while reducing her risk for injury.

“Christina helped us and our gymnast learn better nutritional habits to aid in the prevention of, and recovery from, injuries related to gymnastics. We were able to create and implement a plan for mid-practice fueling (currently no time allotted during 4.5-hour sessions) and post-practice recovery which has been huge!”

The Balanced Gymnast® VIP Program is for you IF…

=

You’ve heard your gymnast must “eat clean” to support her gymnastic goals but you find that this is hard to stick with or worse, leaves your gymnast hangry and with lower energy levels

=

Your gymnast is tired and sore all the time and it breaks your heart; you’ve tried chiropractors, supplements, and physical therapists, but nothing has worked

=

You know your gymnast is not eating enough before or after practice, often skipping meals only to “overdo” later and you’re not sure how to help her find balance

=

You’ve noticed your gymnast is frequently and easily irritated; you ask how practice went and you’re met with silence or a bad attitude

=

Your gymnast has been plagued by injuries, fatigue, and you’re wondering if something is missing from their nutrition

As the parent of a competitive gymnast you were never taught about how to help them fuel for peak performance. That’s why your gymnast is frequently tired, sore, at risk for injury, and has a bad attitude (your child is hangry and under-fueled, not actually mad at you).

If you’re having a lightbulb moment right now, you belong in the Balanced® Gymnast VIP Nutrition Program (For Levels 5/6-10).

“My biggest struggle was how to fuel her for 5-hour workouts. There is so much misinformation about diet and my gymnasts were being difficult with their fueling.

A huge win for me was learning that carbs in practice are necessary and they need to add food to their overall nutrition and not just supplements. Also helping my gymnasts understand that fun foods are acceptable in moderation was really important to me.”

What You’ll Learn in

The Balanced Gymnast® VIP Nutrition Program

This 3-month nutrition coaching program for the parents of gymnasts in levels 6-10 will teach you how to fuel your gymnast for peak performance + longevity in the sport!

By the time the program ends you’ll know how to:

=

Build meals and snacks that are nutritionally appropriate for your gymnast (and enjoyable to eat)

=

Prevent under-fueling that can lead to complications like injury, female athlete triad (low energy + menstrual dysfunction + low bone density) or Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S)

=

Monitor your gymnast's growth and development to ensure proper fueling (in a way that doesn’t irritate your gymnast)

=

Choose supplements your gymnast may need for optimal performance, energy, and endurance (not every gymnast needs the same supplements)

=

Help your gymnast develop a healthy relationship with food and body (gymnastics is temporary but these struggles can follow your gymnast for life)

The first month of working together, I started noticing my daughter had more energy at school, and at home. she was just more present and not so zombie-like on her rest days. So that was great. I was really happy.
Then the last few weeks, she was coming out of gymnastics after x2 training a day smiling and singing in the car and when I would have a little look at her in the gym she was floating around and just happy.
AND THEN finally it happened, her coach told me how she noticed my daughters change in energy at gym. she wasn’t a zombie at that second practice and just had more strength to give by the end (love that intra workout fuel)
I’m so happy with this program.

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

Christina helped our gymnast properly fuel her body with foods that she already enjoys. We love that Christina takes a “real life” approach to nutrition, no weird “super healthy” recipes that no gymnast is going to eat.

Her meal/snack ideas make it so simple to prepare food for the day, something that I already don’t love doing.

Mom, Level 9 Gymnast

My biggest struggle was how to fuel her for 5 hour workouts.

There is so much misinformation about diet and my gymnasts were being difficult with their fueling.

A huge win for me was learning that carbs in practice are necessary and they need to add food for overall nutrition and not just supplements. Also, helping my gymnasts understand the fun foods are acceptable in moderation was really important to me.

Mom, Level 10 gymnasts

My daughter feels safe and connected, not afraid to speak to Christina about her food and body image struggles as a high level gymnast. We love Christina as her nutrition advice is realistic and backed up by science.
Mom, Level 9 Gymnast

Christina helped us and our gymnast learn better nutritional habits to aid in the prevention of, and recovery from, injuries related to gymnastics. We were able to create and IMPLEMENT a plan for mid-practice fueling (currently no time allotted during 4.5 hour sessions) and post-practice recovery which has been huge!
Parents, Level 9/HOPES Gymnast

This been a game changer for my daughter. She loves her 1 on 1 meetings with Christina. My daughter used to fight me on fueling her body and we also were doing some things that weren’t helpful without knowing it. The adjustments Christina has made to her diet, and the hope she has given her now have my daughter doing her best to properly fuel and hydrate her body on her own without my constant prompting (aka nagging)  I cannot recommend getting your gymnast in with her enough!
Mom, Level 10 Gymnast

I have learned and have come to better accept that there are many different gymnast body types, but in order for a gymnast to be healthy and be able to have optimal performance, they have to be properly fueled. I know my gymnast was not eating enough before or during practice and she would come home too hungry which led to erratic food behaviors. Overall, she is becoming much healthier and I was helped to overcome the way I saw food and body image. It has helped restore peace between my daughter and me regarding “fun foods”.

Mom, Level 9 Gymnast

TBG VIP program has been a fantastic resource not only for my gymnast but for me as well. I’ve realized that I have a less-than-ideal relationship with food that’s caused me a lot of anxiety over the years. This program is forcing me to rethink how I view food as it relates to my gymnast and me. In terms of the program itself, we’ve gotten incredible benefits from the performance-fueling strategies in and around practices and meets, fueling for injury prevention, information on puberty and growth, and lab testing (my daughter was recently diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency that we probably wouldn’t have found otherwise) among other things. There’s a plethora of helpful information in the course videos and PDFs and the Facebook group has been invaluable. Plus, my daughter loved the bonus cooking class! I can safely say that I 100% recommend this course.
Mom, Level 6 Gymnast

The program was so helpful! My gymnast was able to visually see examples and learn for herself, so she can create a good plate and know what snacks she needs when. My gymnast has been fortunate to not been faced with too many injuries etc. However, she is a Level 10 now working towards NCAA/elite track and we wanted to make sure she was adequately fueling herself for optimal performance and to reduce the chance of injury.

A Note to Parents from Christina

Hi, I’m Christina Anderson, MS, RDN, CSP, LD. I’m a board-certified pediatric/adolescent registered dietitian sports nutritionist

Like your gymnast (and maybe even you), I was a competitive gymnast for 9+ years.

It wasn’t until I become a Registered Dietitian Sports Nutritionist that I realized what I had been doing with my nutrition as a gymnast was the complete opposite of what I should have been doing.

How could I (and my parents) have known? Especially when everyone else was doing the same as me.

I started my private practice working exclusively with the gymnasts and their parents who are serious about learning how to optimize nutrition and performance.

I’m here to help you challenge commonly held beliefs around nutrition in the sport because you know, “this is how we’ve always done it” doesn’t mean it’s right.

If you’re worried about your gymnast’s risk of injury, constant muscle soreness, chronic fatigue, and irritability, or just their ability to reach their big goals + dreams… this program is made for you.

See you inside!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this only for female gymnasts?
Yes, at this time is because we cover how to avoid the female athlete triad and other topics specific to females. If you have a male gymnast please contact me.
How much time per week is required to engage in the program?
We will meet for 60 minutes every other week (6 times in 12 weeks). You may also have 20-30 mins of “homework” with your gymnast between sessions.
How soon can expect to see results with my gymnast?
We have group members who see improvements in performance, nutrition, and relationship with food within the first 1-2 weeks!
What if my gymnast refuses to talk with me about nutrition, will this help?
This program will help! Gymnasts (especially teens) may not want to talk about nutrition because it’s deeply personal and they don’t want to feel judged. Often comments about food/bodies have already been made, and this program is a safe way to introduce new, healthy nutrition concepts without pressure. Plus you’ll learn so much from this program as a parent that you can implement on your own, as the preparer of food.
What if I can't make it to the live sessions?
No worries! We will have the replay posted as quickly as possible for you in the group platform. We do ask that you try and attend at least 4 of the 6 coaching calls live but understand if you are super busy or live in a time zone that makes it difficult.
Can I use my health insurance for the program?
If you are in the US you can use a HSA card to purchase the program. You can also submit a receipt for a FSA but we cannot guarantee payment; it is your responsibility to check with your insurance carrier. We are happy to provide a superbill if they need more information. We can look into billing your insuranc for part of the UPGRADE option that includes 1:1 sessions, but we cannot guarentee coverage and ask parents can comitt to the total cash price.
