A Note to Parents from Christina
Hi, I’m Christina Anderson, MS, RDN, CSP, LD. I’m a board-certified pediatric/adolescent registered dietitian sports nutritionist
Like your gymnast (and maybe even you), I was a competitive gymnast for 9+ years.
It wasn’t until I become a Registered Dietitian Sports Nutritionist that I realized what I had been doing with my nutrition as a gymnast was the complete opposite of what I should have been doing.
How could I (and my parents) have known? Especially when everyone else was doing the same as me.
I started my private practice working exclusively with the gymnasts and their parents who are serious about learning how to optimize nutrition and performance.
I’m here to help you challenge commonly held beliefs around nutrition in the sport because you know, “this is how we’ve always done it” doesn’t mean it’s right.

Not eating properly wasn’t intentional but we were basing her food intake on hunger… which was insufficient for her daily energy expenditure in the gym. We had always been taught to eat when you’re hungry and stop eating when you feel full, but this philosophy wasn’t giving her enough food.
Thanks to the fueling guidelines Christina provided, my daughter is now more intentional in her eating and making better food choices. I no longer have to nag her to eat before practice, which is such a relief! She has had several nagging injuries that never seemed to completely go away. Since improving her nutrition, her pain has improved and we are much more optimistic that she will be able to compete for years to come. My daughter is 14 years old and a Level 10 and I only wish we’d found this program sooner… better nutrition may have spared her some of her injuries!
