It probably doesn’t occur to most gymnasts and parents to look at their nutrition when struggling with a fear or mental block. But if your brain is running on empty, that’s a threat to your health and safety. Since it’s our brain’s job to keep us safe, mental blocks are basically a flight, fight, freeze response and are exasperated by underfueling.
